Nani back for busy week
Luis Nani will give Sir Alex Ferguson another attacking option on Sunday after overcoming a recent foot injury.
The Portuguese winger will compete for a place with fellow wingers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, both of whom scored in Monday night's 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers.
"Nani has trained all week", revealed Sir Alex at his Good Friday press conference.
"He's a good addition to the squad, he's such a talented player. His return makes the squad stronger. We need a strong squad now with 3 games in 7 days. Having more players means I can change the team around for those games."
United confirm Hazard interest
Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulesteen has confirmed Sir Alex Ferguson personally scouted Lille's Eden Hazard.
Several European giants are believed to be interested in snapping up Hazard in the summer and Meulesteen believes Ferguson's previous appearance at Lille's Ligue 1 match is an indication the Manchester United manager is stepping up his interest in the player.
"The manager wanted to see Hazard by himself. That's a sign he thinks it's an interesting player. We talked a lot about him", the coach shared with Voetbal International.
However, Meulesteen maintains that a transfer for Hazard could still be some way off, as the Scot prefers to analyse the character of potential signings before bringing them in.
"For a club it's important that you keep refreshing your squad. Hazard is a special talent, but it always takes a while. We've followed David de Gea for a long time before we got him", he revealed.
"Ferguson wants to know the character of the player. Because of that he's going to look by himself for players. Hazard is 'the man' at Lille. Ferguson wanted to see if that had an influence on him."
Ferguson to recall veteran Scholes
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says midfielder Paul Scholes will return to face Aston Villa on Sunday.
Veteran midfielder Scholes was rested for United's surprise 1-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic on Wednesday.
The league leaders have seen their advantage over Manchester City shrink to 5 points and the gap could shrink further with Roberto Mancini's challengers in action at Norwich City a day earlier.
Ferguson has acknowledged Scholes' considerable influence since coming out of retirement in January and said the 37-year-old needed a break after seeing so much unexpected first team action.
"Paul has shown his influence since he came back but I did the right thing to rest him on Wednesday", Ferguson said.
"He will be fresh on Sunday and he will play."
Scholes has been a mainstay of the Red Devils' team since his return in January, scoring 3 times in 16 matches.
Fabio set for loan deal
Sir Alex has confirmed that Fabio will leave Manchester United on loan next season.
The 21-year-old has made only one Premier League appearance this year, mainly featuring in the United reserve team.
"He understands the value of playing regularly at a higher level than we can give him at the moment", Sir Alex told United Review.
"I hope that Fabio will develop the same way as his twin."
Opportunities for the young left-back have been further restricted by the form of Patrice Evra and several injuries.
His 14 appearances have come mainly in the Carling Cup and Champions League this season.
The Da Silva twins moved to Manchester from Fluminense (without having played in the Brazilian club's first team) in January 2008, but were unable to play in matches until they turned 18 in July 2008.
Rafael's first start for United came on 23 September that year, while Fabio's competitive debut was delayed by a shoulder injury that required surgery.
He finally broke into the first team 24 January 2009, in a 2–1 FA Cup 4th round win over Tottenham Hotspur.
To date Fabio has made 53 first team appearances for United (21 of them in Premier League), while Rafael has nearly 90 to his name (49 in Premier League).
Rooney targets record
Wayne Rooney admits he wants to overtake George Best and Dennis Viollet in the list of United's all-time goalscorers, but insists his main priority is retaining the title this season.
The 26-year-old striker netted twice in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, taking his tally for the season to 31 and his overall total to 178 - just one short of that set by Best and Viollet.
"It would be great to equal the record and hopefully surpass them", declared Rooney.
"It would be a great achievement that I would be proud of but I can't really look at that at the minute. If it happens then great, hopefully it will before the end of the season, but I'm just concentrating on my game."
"It was nice to score 2 goals but I didn't think my performance was good enough, I was disappointed with that but obviously I'm happy with the goals."
"It's the points that are important at this time of the year and if I can score the goals that get those points then I'll be pleased."
United agree deal to sign Gaitan
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign the Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan with both Fabio Da Silva and Federico Macheda moving to the Portuguese club as part of the terms.
The details of the deal are likely to see Fabio going only on a season's long loan while Macheda's transfer could be a permanent one, with United then reducing some of the costs of acquiring the highly-rated Gaitan.
Although the figures involved are unlikely to be disclosed and the deal will not be announced until the season is over, it appears United are valuing Gaitan at more than £20 million plus the players.
While it will be interesting to see where he fits into Sir Alex Ferguson's plans United have been tracking the Argentina international for some time and are now understood to have made their move for a summer transfer.
Gaitan, who can play as an attacking midfielder or left-sided winger, caught the eye in Benfica's Champions League campaign this season when they faced both United and Chelsea.
Macheda, the 20-year-old Italian striker, is on loan to Queens Park Rangers but has failed to make an impression after a handful of appearances and has returned to United after suffering an ankle injury. It would now appear his days at Old Trafford are numbered with Macheda a makeweight in the deal while, more interestingly, Fabio also appears set to be included.
Manchester United vs Everton preview
All eyes will be on Manchester United when they host Everton on Sunday, as the Premier League title race reaches its climax.
United can continue their charge to back-to-back titles with a win over David Moyes' men, but anything other than victory could leave Manchester City within striking range of the champions ahead of their derby on 30 April.
City face Wolverhampton later on Sunday, but are expected to win that fixture easily, meaning a United flop at Old Trafford would put Roberto Mancini's men within a result of the top.
Everton have been in superb form in the league, which would no doubt make Sir Alex Ferguson nervous ahead of their visit.
Moyes' side are unbeaten in 4 in league matches and kept clean sheets in 3 of those affairs.
An FA Cup semi-finals loss to derby rivals Liverpool will also ensure the Evertonians are reeling ahead of their Manchester battle and they would love nothing more than to upset the Red Devils' run for a record 20th Premiership.
United have won their past 5 home league matches against Everton, with the boys in blue last earning a point at Old Trafford in December 2005.
Last time at the venue it took the home side 84 minutes to find a breakthrough via Javier Hernandez.
United top Forbes rich list
Manchester United continue to top the Forbes list as the most valuable football club in the world but Real Madrid are gaining ground.
United are also ranked as the most valuable team in any sport, worth $2.24 billion, $385 million more than baseball's New York Yankees and the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.
Arsenal are 4th on the list, worth $1.29 billion, behind Real Madrid (£1.6 billion) and FC Barcelona (£816 million) but just ahead of Bayern Munchen (£766 million).
The Forbes list ranks Chelsea in 7th place, worth £474 million and Liverpool eighth with a value of £386 million.
United's huge global fan base, estimated by Forbes to number 330 million, has helped maintain the club's position at the top.
However both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have higher revenues than United, due in large part to the fact they have negotiated their own individual television rights deals for Spanish football.
The figures are also based on last year's financial results reflecting United getting to the Champions League Final.
This season Sir Alex Ferguson's side failed to make the knock-out stages and their income from European football is expected to suffer a corresponding drop, especially in relation to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona who are both in the Champions League semi-finals.
Tottenham are 11th on the list, valued at £351 million and Manchester City 13th, worth £276 million.
Ferguson spotted at DFB Pokal Final
Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan were notable spectators at Saturday's German Cup Final.
United have been linked with Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa recently, with quotes coming out of the 23-year-old's homeland suggesting he was about to leave Borussia Dortmund for Old Trafford.
Kagawa certainly did himself no harm this evening, scoring the opener as Dortmund cruised to victory over Bayern to complete the German domestic double.
The player has opted not to sign a new contract with his current club and has said he would make a decision about his future after tonight's game.
Ferguson's presence - less than 24 hours before his own side will try to defy overwhelming odds and retain their Premier League crown - does seem significant.
The Red Devils chief has been under pressure to bolster his midfield for some considerable time now and missed out on Samir Nasri last summer when he was outbid by Manchester City.
Kagawa would appear to be the perfect solution, having proved his worth during 2 outstanding seasons in Bundesliga.
His age also fits the United profile of buying young players who are still to reach their peak.
After the game, Kagawa said: "For sure Manchester is a great club, but what the future holds I do not know yet".

Dortmund confirm Kagawa departure
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa is set to leave the club this summer after turning down the offer of a new contact.
The Japan international still has a year left to run on his current deal with the Bundesliga champions, but he is a player in demand - he has been heavily linked with Manchester United - and Dortmund are unlikely to want to run the risk of losing him for nothing next year.
Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan were present at the DFB Pokal Final at the weekend as 23-year-old Kagawa scored in Dortmund's 5-2 win over Bayern Munchen.
Kagawa will command a significantly higher fee than the €350.000 Dortmund paid Cerezo Osaka for him in 2010.
He has scored 21 goals in 49 Bundesliga matches, playing a key role in the club's back-to-back league titles.
New contracts for Reds duo
Ben Amos and Paul Scholes have both signed new contracts to remain with Manchester United.
Promising young goalkeeper Amos has penned a 3-year-deal which will run until at least 2015, while Scholes has signed until the end of the 2012/2013 season.
Having made his Premier League debut for the Reds in January's victory over Stoke City and featured in all three 2011/2012 Carling Cup ties, Amos has continued his impressive ascent through the club's ranks.
A commanding presence and an excellent communicator, Amos has made 7 appearances during the course of his Reds career to date, keeping 3 clean sheets, and has also benefited from loan spells with Molde, Peterborough and Oldham Athletic.
Scholes, meanwhile, has completed the formalities of the one-year extension which Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed earlier this month.
7 Reds at EURO 2012
Manchester United will have 7 representatives at EURO 2012 after the final squads were delivered to UEFA on Tuesday.
Anders Lindegaard has made the Denmark squad after proving his fitness and should compete with Stephan Andersen for a starting spot after Thomas Sorensen was ruled out. Peter Schmeichel's son Kasper has been drafted in as cover for the Stoke City 'keeper.
Roy Hodgson's England have 4 Reds in their ranks, although Wayne Rooney is suspended for the first 2 matches. Rooney wears his favourite No. 10 shirt with in-form Ashley Young taking 11. Phil Jones is at 14 while Danny Welbeck, who is travelling despite taking time to recover from an injury, gets 22.
Nani is in Portugal's party, along with former Old Trafford favourite Cristiano Ronaldo, and Patrice Evra is included in Laurent Blanc's 23-man France squad.
David De Gea, as expected, will not feature for Spain as he's instead earmarked to be No. 1 at the Olympics.
United keen on Modric
Manchester United have offered Tottenham Hotspur £25 million in order to sign Luka Modric, according to reports in the British media.
The playmaker is a usual fixture in the annual transfer sagas with Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him in the previous season. But with the procurement of Eden Hazard from Lille, it's unlikely that the Londoners are interested in renewing their interest in the player.
Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to add the Croatian alongside Japanese international Shinji Kagawa to the list of signings by the club in the current transfer window. It is understood that the Scotsman has cooled his interest in perennial transfer target - Inter Milano's Wesley Sneijder.
Modric, 26-year-old, would be handed a 4-year deal and would become one of the top earners at Old Trafford.
The former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder has repeatedly expressed his happiness at the club but with Chelsea's Champions League win, Spurs will miss out on the competition in the coming season despite ending the recently concluded campaign in 4th place.
The diminutive player signed a 6-year deal in May 2010 but it is uncertain if Redknapp will be able to hold onto his star player if he receives a concrete offer. Redknapp is also entering the final year of his contract amid reports that he could be on the way to join Chelsea to replace interim manager Roberto di Matteo.

Benzema: United tried to sign me
France star Karim Benzema claims Manchester United have made attempts to sign him 'for the past three or four seasons'.
The 24-year-old has been continually linked with a move to the Premier League with Sir Alex Ferguson thought to be a big admirer of the former Lyon hit-man.
"The rumours about my future are common, every summer it's the same that I will be going to this club and that club," Benzema is quoted as saying in the Sun on Sunday.
"But I am very happy at Real Madrid and the thought about leaving has never crossed my mind. I know Manchester United have tried to sign me for the past three or four seasons.
"When I was at Lyon they and a number of other English clubs wanted me but could not agree terms with Lyon. Besides, I wanted to go to Spain and I can honestly say I have never regretted that decision.
"I'm still young and I have a contract at Madrid until 2015. I still want to achieve things at the club. I have had a taste of success after winning the Spanish title but I want more."
Benzema has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League in the future, but insists he is not contemplating any such move at the minute.
"I would never say never about coming to England and, to be honest, I have no real preference in terms of teams," added Benzema. "But that is a long way in the future, not something I would even consider at the moment."
Rafael close to new deal
Rafael's agent claims the full-back is set to sign a new contract at Manchester United and that his twin brother Fabio is ready to join Queens Park Rangers on loan.
Brazil international Rafael has made over 80 appearances for United since joining the club in 2008, although his opportunities have been restricted by injury.
The 21-year-old is an important part of the Red Devils' future plans and reports suggest he is ready to finalise an extension to stay at Old Trafford until 2016.
His agent Cassiano Pereira told ESPN: "Rafael is very happy to stay at Manchester United, who are one of the giants of world football and always play in Europe's biggest competitions".
However, Rafael's sibling Fabio is set to head out on loan next season to build up his first team experience and is being lined up for a switch to QPR.
Fabio has made 53 appearances for United and was a target for Benfica, but Pereira says staying in Premier League will be more beneficial for the defender's long-term career.
United line up Nani replacement
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United will make a move for Porto's James Rodriguez if contract talks with Nani go awry.
Manchester United initiated contract extension talks with Nani prior to the start of EURO 2012. However, the Portuguese international turned down the club's proposition, seeking more than the £130.000-per-week deal on offer. His agent requested the Red Devils match the £200.000-per-week arrangement drawn by some of the players at rival club Manchester City.
Nani is believed to have grown disillusioned by the lack of progress in contract discussions in recent weeks, having not heard back from the Red Devils' board about a possible counter-offer while with the Portuguese national team.
The winger stated on a previous occasion that he would not be opposed to a move away from the Old Trafford for the sake of a new challenge. Italian champions Juventus are one of the clubs monitoring his contract discussions with United and manager Antonio Conte is poised to strike in a bid to strengthen his ranks.
Sir Alex Ferguson has already identified a possible replacement for the former Sporting Lisbon player, should Nani decide not to take up United's next contract offer. The player that has caught Ferguson's eye is Porto's James Rodriguez.
Only 20 years of age, Rodriguez scored 13 goals in 20 Liga Sagres appearances last season. The Columbian youngster, who has been heralded as the next Carlos Valderrama, is unsurprisingly flattered by interest from the Red Devils and is keen to make the switch.
However, FC Porto have slapped a £25 million price tag on the player they consider to be South America's Cristiano Ronaldo. With options such as Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, along with the recently purchased Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund, it remains to be seen if Ferguson will shell out the amount requested for Rodriguez.
